Easy maltesers cake

Today I am going to tell you how to make a magnificent maltesers cake!

You will need

For the cake:
175g butter
175g caster sugar
120g self raising  flour
55g cocoa powder
4g baking powder
3 medium eggs

For the icing:
3 tablespoon's of milk
121g of maltesers

Step 1: Turn the oven to 180°C/160°C Fan/Gas 4. Grease and line 2 x 8" (20cm) sandwich tins.

Step 2: Put butter and sugar into a bowl and mix until creamy. Sieve the cocoa, flour and baking powder into a separate bowl.

Step 3: Add one of the eggs and a third of the flour mix. Add a second egg and the 2nd third of the flour mix. Add the final egg and add the rest of the flour mix.

Step 4: Split the mixture between two cake tins and bake in the center of the oven for around 25 minuets.

Step 5: Put the maltesers in a plastic bag (keep a few apart for decorating the cake) and finely crush with a rolling pin. Put into a pan and melt over a low heat, stirring until well blended. Remove from heat and allow to cool until thick enough to spread.

Step 6: Place one cake on a plate and swirl over half the spread then top the top of the cake with the other half. Decorate with the remaining maltesers.
